How does the converter work?

Choose Gregorian to Hijri and enter a date, or choose the reverse direction and select the Hijri month, day, and year.

Dates from 1300 to 1600 AH are supported. Copy your result or adjust the Hijri mapping by one day to match local sighting.

Results are accurate to the Umm al-Qura calendar. They may differ by one day from countries that rely on local moon sighting.

Why do you need date conversion?

Many Muslims need to convert between calendars for everyday situations: recording birth dates on official documents, planning travel during Hajj and Umrah seasons, or finding the Gregorian equivalent of a specific Hijri occasion.

Some countries use Hijri dates officially in contracts and government transactions, while others use the Gregorian calendar. This converter helps you switch between the two systems instantly.

Common conversion scenarios

People often use a Hijri converter to check the Gregorian date of Arafah, Ramadan, or Eid, to convert a birth date recorded in Hijri, or to verify contracts and records written in the Islamic calendar.

The page also explains the reference calendar, the limits of cross-country date alignment, and the practical reasons a result may differ by one day elsewhere.

Hijri vs. Gregorian calendar

Hijri calendar: A lunar calendar beginning from the Prophet's ﷺ migration (622 CE). It has 354-355 days per year, with each month starting at the sighting of the new crescent moon.

Gregorian calendar: A solar calendar beginning from the birth of Jesus (peace be upon him). It has 365-366 days per year, based on Earth's orbit around the sun.

Because of this ~11-day difference, Hijri dates shift earlier each Gregorian year. This is why Ramadan falls in different seasons over a cycle of about 33 years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the converter match every country’s calendar exactly?

The result follows the Umm al-Qura calendar. Some countries may differ by one day at the start of certain months because they follow local moon sighting announcements.

How does Hijri-to-Gregorian conversion work here?

Choose Hijri to Gregorian, then enter a day, named month, and year from 1300 to 1600 AH. The matching Gregorian date appears with a copy button.

When is a Hijri converter useful?

It is useful for official paperwork, travel planning, government forms, legal records, and understanding the Gregorian equivalent of Ramadan, Eid, Arafah, and other Islamic dates.

Does the tool store the dates I enter?

No. The conversion runs locally in the browser and does not send your date inputs to a database or outside service.
